(MARIETTA, Ohio) -
Alfie Harris scored the lone goal for Wilmington, off a
William Jansson corner kick, in the 71st minute, but with the Quakers trailing 2-0 at that point, Wilmington will fall to the host Marietta Pioneers on Saturday.
Harris attempted a shot prior to the corner kick, that was saved by Marietta keeper Joey Backhaus, that Backhaus tipped over the goal, which led to the Jansson corner.
Oliver Metz delivered a clean sheet through the first half, facing four shots on goal.
Both freshman
Parker Burke and the senior Harris, in his final regular-season match, took four shots, one of which was on goal. The Quakers as a team took 17 shots, five of which were on goal.
Wilmington will be making a second trip to Westerville to face the Otterbein Cardinals on Tuesday, November 5th. Kickoff for the match will be at 7:00 p.m.
Wilmington defeated Otterbein 2-1 on October 16.
