Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Quakers Play Hard, But Lose to No. 21 Hope College

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's basketball team hosted the No. 21 nationally ranked Hope College Flying Dutch Friday night in front of a loud crowd at Fred Raizk Arena in Hermann Court. They held a 35-33 halftime lead but Hope outscored Wilmington 41-29 over the final 20 minutes of the contest and left Wilmington with a 74-64 win. This loss drops Wilmington to 1-2 overall this season.

The Quakers jumped out to a fast 10-6 lead just over five minutes into the game. Rashid Chisholm scored four points during this first flurry of action. The Flying Dutch went on a 19-6 run to grab a nine point, 25-16 lead with 6:17 remaining in the first half. This lead increased to 11 at 32-21 with 4:31 left in the first, as they looked to try and knock out the Quakers early.

The Quakers punched back though and went on a 14-1 run to end the half with a 35-33 lead. The trio of Carson Miles, Domenic Farley, and Jed Smith provided the offense during this rally as Miles scored four, while Farley and Smith scored five points.

The second half saw the Quakers start off hot. Obed Achirem took it upon himself to score seven of the Quakers first eight points in the half to extend their lead to six at 43-37. This lead was short lived though as Hope ripped off a 13-0 run for a 50-43 advantage with 13:51 to play.

Five straight Ben Golan points got the Quakers within two at 50-48, but the Flying Dutch came right back with a 10-0 run for a 60-48 lead. They held onto this lead for the remainder of the contest, as the Quakers couldn't get within six points in the loss.
