(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's soccer team stayed undefeated Saturday night, beating the Heidelberg University Student Princes, 8-0. The Quakers have outscored their last three opponents at home, 24-0 and are now 8-0-3 overall this season and 1-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC).
The scoring got started for Wilmington in the fifth minute as
Aidan Barnishin sent a beautiful through ball to
Kaden Young who smoked the ball into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. Not long after this in the seventh minute,
Jace Houck found Young all alone in front of the keeper and beat him to his right for his second goal of the night and a 2-0 lead. In the ninth minute, Young completed a hat trick after scoring a penalty kick goal.
Randy Harris would be the first Quaker not named
Kaden Young to score a goal, as he had to work very hard to get around several Student Princes defenders before sending a strike into the back of the net for a 4-0 lead.
Parker Burke scored for Wilmington in the 24th minute off an assist from
Randy Harris. Burke passed to Harris who passed it back to Burke, then sped past several defenders and snuck it just past the keeper for a 5-0 lead. This would be the halftime score.
Young scored his final goal of the game off a mistake by the Heidelberg goalkeeper. He kicked the ball off Young, who gathered the rebound in the box and sent it right past him for a 6-0 lead. The next goal was a beautiful left footed cross into the box from
Randy Harris to Barnishin, who used his left foot to beat the keeper for a 7-0 lead.
The final goal came from freshman
Akol Malow. The ball was sent to midfield and Heidelberg mistakenly sent the ball right into the foot of Malow, who zoomed past the keeper for an easy goal and an 8-0 lead.
