Football Upended at Home Against John Carroll

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College football team lost to the John Carroll University Blue Streaks, 66-14, Saturday afternoon in their final game with the departing Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) institution.

John Carroll jumped ahead with a 28-yard touchdown run to take a 7-0 lead. However, things looked promising for the Quakers as Isaac Ross found a streaking Lathan Jones down the sideline for a 59-yard touchdown and a 7-7 tie late in the first quarter.

The Blue Streaks put up 28 unanswered points though and take a 35-7 lead with 4:28 remaining in the first half. The Quakers put their final score on the board at the end of the first half, aided by 30- and 21-yard passes to De'Anta Sanon. Kai Smith would later take the ball into the end zone from 12 yards out to push the deficit to 35-14 heading into the locker room. John Carroll scored 24 points in the second half.
