Several Quakers Swim Well in Loss at Ohio Northern

(ADA, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's swimming team faltered in a Friday night Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) dual with the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears. The Quakers lost 134-69 and are now 0-2 overall this season.

Leading the charge for Wilmington was junior Sondre Haugen, who won two events for the Quakers. He began his night with a dominant victory in the 500 Yard Freestyle, swimming a 4:54.22 to win the event by nearly 20 seconds. Later in the dual, he swam the 200 Yard Freestyle and won by over three seconds with a time of 1:47.23.

Also winning two events for the Quakers was sophomore Jo Pedersen, claiming both the 100 Yard IM and 50 Yard Freestyle. In the 100 Yard IM, Pedersen out touched a pair of Polar Bears and came away with the win by .29 tenths of a second at 55.18. Things weren't much different in the 50 Yard Freestyle, as he came away with a time of 22.38 to win by .34 tenths of a second.

John Good won the 50 Yard Backstroke for the Quakers by 0.31 tenths of a second with a time of 25.67 and also took second in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 50.15 seconds. Good was just edged out by Ohio Northern's Brady Horgan.

Austin Reed finished second in the 50 Yard Butterfly, touching the wall in 25.50 and was third in the 100 Yard Freestyle, losing to Good in a photo finish at 50.16 seconds.
