Biography

PERSONAL: Simon Heys was born May 23, 2001...son of Brad and Patricia Heys...four-year starter for his father at Wilmington High School...seven-time First Team All-League honoree...garnered All-Ohio honors two times.

MAJOR: Sport Management / Communications

Freshman Season (2019-20): 

Set two indoor program records including the 3,000m (8:37.32) and the 5,000m (14:57.89)...finished fourth in the 3,000m (8:47.91)...also a member of the Fightin' Quakers' distance medley relay squad that took fourth (10:34.71)...also a member of the cross country team.

Sophomore Season (2020-21):

Finished third (14:50.14) for All-OAC honors at the OAC Outdoor Championships...set two outdoor program records in the 10,000m (29:54.93) and 5,000m (14:35.93)...qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships in the 10,000m and placed 13th.

Junior Season (2021-22): 

Garnered four sepereate All-OAC honors between the indoor and outdoor seasons...set three indoor program records in the mile (4:11.93), 3,000m (8:19.42), and 5,000m (14:23.19), as well as three outdoor records in the distance medley relay (10:25.25), 5,000m (14:19.55), and 10,000m (29:38.89)...qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships in the 10,000m and placed 12th. 

Senior Season (2022-23):

Appeared in 13 meets for the Quakers, competing in seven different events for the Quakers…Set collegiate bests in the 5,000 (14:08.53), 3,000 (8:17.11), 1,500 (3:52.04), and 10,000 (29:12.62)…Was an Indoor All-American in the 5,000 after a time of 14:11.96 earned him fifth place, and Outdoor All-American in the 10,000 after his time of 29:12.62 earned him fourth place…Named Indoor All-OAC after winning the 5,000 (14:33.67) and finishing second in the 3,000 (8:17.11)…Named Outdoor All-OAC after finishing second in the 10,000 (30:59.21) and the 5,000 (14:31.87)…Won four events…Named College Sports Communicators Second Team Academic All-American…Named Academic All-OAC.

Senior Season (2023-24):

Appeared in 13 meets for the Quakers…Competed in the 5,000 Meter Run, Mile, 3,000 Meter Run, Distance Medley Relay, 1,500 Meter Run, and the 10,000 Meter Run…Set a new career best in the Outdoor 5,000 Meter Run (14:06.07)…Won two 3,000 Meter races, one Indoor 5,000 Meter race, one 1,500 Meter race, one Outdoor 5,000 Meter race, and one 10,000 Meter race…Won the 3,000 Meter Run and the 5,000 Meter Run at the OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships...Won the 5,000 Meter Run and the 10,000 Meter Run at the OAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships…Finished third in the 10,000 Meter Run at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and was named a First Team All-American in the event…Finished 16th in the 5,000 Meter Run at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and was named a Second Team All-American in the event…Named All-Region in the Indoor Mile, Indoor 5,000 Meter Run, Outdoor 5,000 Meter Run, and the Outdoor 10,000 Meter Run…Named OAC Distance Runner of the Year at the OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships and the OAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships…Named First Team All-OAC in the Indoor 5,000 Meter Run, Outdoor 5,000 Meter Run, 3,000 Meter Run, and the 10,000 Meter Run…Named OAC Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week on April 1, 2024...Named Wilmington College's male recipient of the Clyde A. Lamb Award...Named Academic All-OAC.

Appeared in five meets outdoors for the Quakers…Competed in the 10,000 Meter Run, 5000 Meter Run, 1500 Meter Run, and 4x800 Meter Relay…Finished as a First Team All-American (8th) in the 10,000 Meter RunNamed USTFCCCA All Great Lakes Region in the 5000 Meter Run and 10,000 Meter Run…Named the Co-Winner of the Jim Wuske Most Outstanding Distance Runner at the OAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships...Won the OAC Championship in the 10,000 Meter RunWas named All-OAC in the 5000 Meter Run (2nd) and 1500 Meter Run (3rd)…Set a career best in the 5000 Meter Run (13:57.78)…Won two 10,000 Meter Runs…Finished second in one 1500 Meter Run and one 5000 Meter Run…Finished third in one 1500 Meter Run.
