(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - The Franklin Grizzlies defeated the Wilmington Quakers 3-0 at Fred Raizk Arena in Hermann Court, dropping Wilmington to 2-1 on the weekend and 3-1 overall.
The visiting Grizzlies opened the first set by taking 17 of the first 20 points to build a commanding lead. Despite back-to-back kills by Emelia Mohler, the Grizzlies stifled the Quakers' comeback effort en route to a 25-7 opening-set victory.
The second set began as a more tightly contested affair, with neither team leading by more than four points until midway through the frame. Leading 11-8, Franklin created separation with a 7-0 scoring run to pull ahead by 10. Although the Quakers narrowed the gap to seven multiple times, Franklin closed out the second set with a 25-16 victory.
Wilmington, led by two kills apiece from Paige Shouse and Mackenzie Simpson, began the third set by taking a 7-3 advantage. Despite the hot start from the Green and White, the Grizzlies found their footing and flipped the momentum with a 9-0 scoring surge. After Franklin pulled ahead during the run, Wilmington twice battled back to within two points before ultimately falling 25-18.
