(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team lost their final home game of the season Saturday afternoon in heartbreaking fashion, 8-7, in double overtime against Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) rival Heidelberg University.
Nick Roca, Damian Dean, and Elijah Loux were all recognized before the game for Senior Day.
In what was a back-and-forth contest throughout, a last second Student Princes goal sent the game into overtime, before they eventually sealed the win with a double overtime tally.
Heidelberg held a 3-2 halftime lead before Nick Roca scored to tie the game at 3-3 off a Garrett Reigelsperger assist early in the third period. Both teams traded goals in the second half, until Roca scored two unassisted strikes late in the game to give Wilmington a 7-6 lead with under three minutes to play. The Student Princes tied it with their aforementioned last second goal.
The Quakers put two shots on goal in the first overtime, including a last second shot from Reigelsperger off the post. Heidelberg won it less than a minute into the second overtime period.
