Sophomore Wins $2,300 Dr. Pepper Dollars Challenge

With his men's lacrosse teammates cheering him on throughout this year's Dr. Pepper Dollars Challenge, Zachary Swearingen emerged as the winner of the $2,300 grand prize Wednesday night. The College's beverage provider, G&J Pepsi, sponsored the annual competition held at halftime of Wilmington College's men's basketball game.

Swearingen, a sophomore from New Carlisle, took home a check for $2,300 while the other finalists, Grace Kingery, a junior from Pemberville, and Lindsey Bauer, a sophomore from Cleves, won $230 and $23, respectively.

The Dr. Pepper Dollars Challenge featured the three contestants at center court in Fred Raizk Arena with Dr. Pepper coolers at their feet. Each one tossed a six-sided die, which commanded such instructions as "switch positions with someone," 'everyone move to the left," "hold your positions," etc. After two rounds, the contestants opened the cooler at their feet — and Swearingen revealed a placard emblazoned with "$2,300."

The College thanks G&J Pepsi for its sponsorship and other support given throughout the year and looks forward to next year's Dr. Pepper Dollars Challenge.
