(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's basketball team clinched a spot in the upcoming Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) tournament with a win tonight over the visiting Muskingum University Fighting Muskies, 81-69. This will be the first tournament appearance for Wilmington in four years.
Both teams traded buckets over the first 10 minutes of action, with the Quakers holding a slight 14-13 advantage. Their lead jumped to 11 points at 25-16 after a 13-2 run ensued.
Izaiah Cathey scored eight points for Wilmington while
Matt DeBrosse added five. With the Quakers up 13 late in the first half, senior
Domenic Farley knocked down a jumper for the 1,000th point of his Wilmington career, as they held a 43-27 lead at the break.
The Quakers held as large as a 24-point lead in the second half at 63-39. This lead held steady throughout the remainder of the game. The Muskies cut the lead to 12 with 3:40 remaining, but that was as close as they would come in the Quakers victory.
