(NEW CONCORD, Ohio) – The Wilmington Quakers defeated the Muskingum Muskies 2-1 Saturday afternoon, clinching a berth in the 2026 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Men's Soccer Tournament.
With their postseason hopes on the line, the Quakers delivered a crucial road victory to secure three points in the conference standings and extend their season.
Wilmington opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Jace Houck connected with Tannar Beermann on a pass through the midfield. Beermann turned past his defender before finishing the opportunity to give the Quakers a 1-0 advantage. The Green and White doubled their lead in the 50th minute following a strong offensive sequence. After Ben Bartschy regained possession, Caleb Redding flicked the ball to Bartschy, who found Aidan Barnishin at the top of the box. Barnishin delivered a first-time finish to extend Wilmington's lead to 2-0.
Muskingum made things interesting in the 69th minute, finding the back of the net to cut the Quakers' advantage to 2-1. However, the Halloween afternoon featured more treats than tricks for Wilmington, as the Quakers held off the Muskies over the final 21 minutes to secure the victory and punch their ticket to the postseason. With the win, Wilmington concluded its regular season with a 7-6-6 overall record.
