Personal Records Fall Like Dominoes for Men’s Cross Country in Louisville Saturday

Story by Gabe Moore

(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) - "Incredible" may not be a sufficient word to describe the Quakers performance at the Louisville Classic on Saturday. The Quakers took full advantage of immaculate conditions at race time, with virtually every runner who wore the green-and-white running a time that represented either a season's best or all-time best, good enough for a 20th place finish in the Men's blue division at the Louisville Cross-Country Classic.

No Quaker exemplified this better than sophomore Neka Bukasa, who, in the process of leading the Quakers over the finish line, crushed his previous personal best with a remarkable time of 26:19, good enough for 42nd place, and good enough to rank as the 21st-best 8k performance in the history of Wilmington College Cross Country.

Bukasa was far from alone in his quest for a personal best. Sophomore Braydon Buchanan ran a personal best of nearly twenty-five seconds, claiming 97th place in 27:08. For the first time this season, senior Bryson Robinette claimed third place among the Quakers, dominating his longtime personal best of 27:59 with a finish of 27:26 for 121st place. He narrowly held off sophomore Simeon Williamson, who finished in 124th with a time of 27:30, a personal best of eleven seconds.

Junior Keegan Kidd finished 149th and represented the Quakers fifth man in his first 8k of the season, running a time of 28:02 to obliterate his previous personal best and to outpace his 2025 Louisville Classic performance by nearly four minutes, a feat nearly unheard of in collegiate cross country. Freshman Samuel Quackenbush bested his previous 8k time by more than ninety seconds, finishing 158th with a time of 28:13. Fellow freshman Jake Vance concluded the scoring for the Quakers, finishing 176th with a time of 28:42, an improvement of more than two full minutes from his performance two weeks ago at the All-Ohio Championships.

What's Up Next

The Quakers will not compete next weekend before hoping to ride their wave of recent strong performances to a strong finish at their home competition, the JennaStrong Fall Classic on October 16th.
