Men's Soccer Drops OAC Semifinal Match at Otterbein University

(WESTERVILLE, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's soccer team concluded their 2025 season Thursday night on the road with a loss at Otterbein University, 4-1. They gave up an early goal but tied it just minutes into the second half at 1-1. However, three unanswered Cardinals tallies made the final score 4-1. Wilmington ends their season with a 13-5-3 overall record.

Otterbein scored in the sixth minute to take a 1-0 lead that held throughout the first half. The Quakers struggled offensively during the first 45 minutes of action, taking just three shots.

Early in the second half though, they answered on a corner kick. Junior Aidan Barnishin sent a beautiful ball into the box that landed right on freshman Brayden Spencer's foot for the score and a 1-1 tie.

The Quakers had the momentum with two more shots on goal from Eli Eyrich and Kaden Young shortly after their goal. The Cardinals took it back though with the go-ahead goal in the 59th minute. Wilmington had two more shots from this point forward, with one shot on goal in the defeat.

  • Freshman Brayden Spencer scored his fourth goal of the season while Aidan Barnishin had his fourth assist.
  • Senior Kaden Young took a team high three shots while junior Eli Eyrich put a team high two shots on target.
  • The Quakers took eight shots with four on goal.
