(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's swimming team split their tri-dual meet Saturday afternoon in the Wilmington Natatorium, beating Wittenberg University, 155-74 and losing to Transylvania University, 132-113. They are now 2-2 overall in dual action this season.
Senior
John Good and sophomore
Parker Basener led the way for the Quakers, both winning two events. Good won the 50 SC Meter Freestyle in 25.30 seconds, just out touching Transylvania's Isaiah Perkins, who finished in 25.74 seconds. He turned right back around a few minutes later to win the 100 SC Meter Freestyle in 56.59 seconds, once again besting Perkins, who was second at 57.31 seconds.
Basener won the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke in 1:08.92 and the 200 SC Meter Breaststroke by over two seconds at 2:33.20.
Also winning individual events for Wilmington was senior
Sondre Haugen and freshman
Bo Bindewald. Haugen dominated in the 400 SC Meter Freestyle with a time of 4:20.12, winning by over 26 seconds. He also finished in second place in the 200 SC Meter Butterfly in 2:15.14, where Transylvania's Kole Brannock just bested him in 2:15.01.
Bindewald won the 100 SC Meter Backstroke in 1:03.59 and took second in the 200 SC Meter Backstroke, touching the wall in 2:23.04.
The Quakers won both the 400 SC Meter Medley Relay and the 400 SC Meter Freestyle Relay. The team of Bindewald, Basener, Haugen, and Good took the 400 SC Meter Medley relay in 4:07.03 by over four seconds while the same squad won the 400 SC Meter Free Relay in 3:46.75. They won this relay by over 14 seconds.
Junior
Nathan Duerk finished the 200 SC Meter Freestyle in third place with a time of 2:26.44 while junior
Ryan Washburn was third in the 100 SC Meter Butterfly in 1:11.88.
