(CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio) – The Wilmington College volleyball team lost on the road Saturday afternoon to the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers, 3-1. The Quakers were knotted at 1-1 after two sets but dropped the final two sets of the match.
Set one saw the Quakers stay within two points throughout. Trailblazer mistakes coupled with kills from
Sarah Brown and
Emelia Mohler cut the lead to 17-15, but a 5-1 run doomed the set for Wilmington.
The second set saw the most highlights for Wilmington. They went up 6-0 early thanks to errors and kills from
Brinlee Preston and Brown. After Ohio Christian cut the lead to 13-11, the Quakers put the set away with an 8-0 rally for a 21-11 lead in an eventual 25-14 win.
Addison Sparks and Preston both had two kills during the run.
Wilmington held a 14-13 lead in the third set, but a 9-1 Trailblazers flurry put the set out of reach for the Quakers. The Quakers cut the lead to three late in the final set, but couldn't muster the comeback, as they dropped the match 3-1.
Notables
- Senior Sarah Brown led the Quakers with 13 kills, while junior Emelia Mohler had nine kills. This is Brown's fourth match with double digit kills this season.
- Kyra Frasier had 21 assists in the match. She has three matches with 21 or more assists this season.
- Four Quakers had double-digit digs in the match, with junior Logan McQuillin leading the way with 17. Senior Jarika Hart had 15, while Frasier and freshman Mia Spence had 10.
- This is Frasier's fifth double-double this season.
