(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College football team lost to the University of Mount Union Purple Raiders Saturday afternoon in Williams Stadium, 59-0.
The Quakers had several solid chances to score points in this one but were never able to convert. They turned it over on downs five times throughout the contest.
Their first drive of the day, they used 18-yard gains from
Darryl Story and
Kai Smith to eventually get to the Mount Union 39-yard line, before a sack ended their drive on downs.
Early in the second quarter, thanks to a 42-yard
Mackenzie Tillman catch and run, Wilmington made it to the Mount 20-yard line. However, a fumble ended their drive empty handed.
Another long drive ensued in the second quarter, where a third down roughing the passer penalty gave the Quakers a first down and a chance for some points. Chunk plays from
De'Anta Sanon and Story helped Wilmington reach the Purple Raiders 19-yard line, but an incompletion ended their drive on downs.
The Quakers made it within the Mount Union 25-yard line on three more occasions throughout the remainder of the game but turned it over on downs every drive.
