(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's soccer team won the first game of the 2024-25 edition of the Quaker Bowl on Wednesday night in Williams Stadium over the visiting Earlham College Quakers, 3-1.
Alex Wilson got the scoring started for Wilmington in the sixth minute before
Jordan Snyder tallied a goal in the 11th minute and
Jada Pohlen completed the scoring for Wilmington with a goal in the 74th minute.
After a few touch passes from the backfield, Wilson went to work on the Earlham defense. She controlled possession at the 45-yard line and never looked back. She maneuvered her way around two Earlham defenders and made a move to her left foot near the endzone and snuck a left footed shot past the diving keeper for a 1-0 lead.
It didn't take long for the Quakers to find their second goal of the contest. After an Earlham mishap on a throw in, Wilmington stole the ball away and
Jordan Snyder received a pass at the 10-yard line and controlled the ball. She then sent a right-footed strike right past the Earlham goalkeeper for a 2-0 Wilmington lead. The Quakers went into the half up 2-0 after taking 12 shots in the first half.
Earlham cut the lead in half in the 66th minute with a goal to make it 2-1. The Quakers final goal was a beauty as freshman
Gracie King sent a right footed cross into the box to the waiting head of
Jada Pohlen, who did the rest and found the back of the net for the 3-1 lead.
