Softball Swept in Sunday Doubleheader at Transylvania

(LEXINGTON, Ky.) - The Wilmington College softball team lost both games on the road Sunday against a Transylvania University team that is 27-8 on the season. The Quakers lost game one 8-0 and game two 14-2. The team is now 17-20-1 overall this season. 

Game One - Transylvania defeats Wilmington, 8-0

Carlee Jeter pitched a perfect game for the Pioneers en route to her 14th win of the season. The Quakers allowed five runs in the first inning and three in the second inning. 

Game One Notables

  • Makenzie O'Neil had four strikeouts over her 3.2 innings in the circle for Wilmington.

Game Two - Transylvania defeats Wilmington, 14-2

The Pioneers struck quickly with a three run first inning. Carson Murray stole home to give Transylvania a 3-0 lead to end the first inning. An 11 run third inning put the game out of the Quakers reach. Izzy Story punctuated the inning with a two run double to open the scoring. 

Judaea Wilson hit a triple in the bottom of the third inning and scored the Quakers first run on a throwing error by the shortstop. Senior Samantha Schwab followed Wilson with a solo homerun to make the final score 14-2 for Transylvania. 

Game Two Notables

  • Four Quakers had one hit in the game.
  • Samantha Schwab hit her ninth homerun of the season and had their one RBI.
  • Quakers pitching had three strikeouts and Lauryn Humphrey ended the day with a scoreless inning.

What's Up Next

Up next the Quakers travel to Otterbein University on Saturday, May 4th at 1:00 and 3:00 P.M. to wrap up OAC play.
