Women's Soccer Set for First Round of OAC Tournament Tomorrow at Capital

(BEXLEY, Ohio) The Wilmington College women's soccer team returns to the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament (OAC) tomorrow as the sixth seed for the second consecutive season, kicking off at 7:00 P.M. They play at Bernlohr Stadium in Columbus, Ohio against the third-seeded Capital University Comets.

Last season, the Quakers bowed out of the OAC Tournament against the third-seeded Ohio Northern Polar Bears with a 1-0 loss.

In each of Head Coach Nick Kinder's three seasons, the Quakers entered the final game with a chance to get into the playoffs and won all three matchups. In Kinder's inaugural season, Mount Union upset Otterbein to propel the 4-4-1 Purple Raiders over the 4-5 Quakers.

Wilmington finished the regular season with a 7-6-5 overall record and a 3-3-3 mark in the OAC. The Comets beat the Quakers 2-1 on October 23rd at Wilmington.

In the first matchup, Jordan Snyder netted the lone Quaker goal in the 86th minute, while Capital's Ava Spirk and Ryanne Michel scored twice in the first fifteen minutes of the second half despite the Quakers out-shooting Capital 10-7.

Over the season, the Quakers average just under two goals a game, averaging 16 shots per game. 53% of the shots that the Quakers take end up on goal.

The key attackers for the Quakers are Alex Wilson, Jada Pohlen, Jordan Snyder, and MJ Little.

Wilson is the Quakers' leading scorer, with 20 points and a team-high eight goals this season. Pohlen has 18 points on the season, coming on six goals and six assists, the latter being a team-high. Snyder has six goals for the Quakers as well.

Between the three of them, they have scored five of the game-winners during the Quakers 7 wins.

MJ Little is a key facilitator between the midfield and other front-line players.

Key midline and backline players include Gabby Perkins, Lindsey Bauer, Madison VanSuch, Cloey Sattler, Riley Shockey, and Olivia Malicoat.
