Quakers Lose OAC Opener to Muskingum at Home

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's basketball team lost their Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) opener to the visiting Muskingum University Fighting Muskies Tuesday night at home, 93-76. The Quakers held a 45-43 lead at the break, but Muskingum was firing on all cylinders in the second half and outscored Wilmington 50-31 to win the game. The Quakers are back in non-conference play on Sunday afternoon against Wittenberg University at home.

The two teams traded points to start the game, as the game sat tied at 10-10 with 16:35 left in the first half. The Muskies then used a 15-5 run to take the lead and hold a 25-15 advantage. This lead held steady until the Quakers began to come back with 7:50 to play.

Carson Miles went on a 6-0 run of his own, which also included a steal. Domenic Farley cut the lead to one point after a steal and a layup made it 28-27. The Muskies briefly pushed the lead back out to four, but just like that the game was tied at 40-40 with one minute remaining in the half.

A pair of Rashid Chisholm free throws gave the Quakers a 42-40 lead before an Obed Achirem steal, layup, and free throw pushed the lead to 45-40. Muskingum hit a late three pointer to go into the half trailing 45-43.

The Muskies rushed out to a 10-2 run in the second half to grab a 53-47 advantage. This lead grew to 11 points at 60-49 with 14:54 to play. The Quakers cut the lead down to six after a tip-in layup by Chisholm made the score 63-57 with 11:44 to go, but that was as close as they would get in their loss.
