(TIFFIN, Ohio) - Freshman
Emelia Mohler had 10 kills and
Andie Dolven netted another 21 assists in a three-set loss in the Quakers Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) opener against the Heidelberg University Student Princes in Tiffin on Saturday afternoon.
The Quakers kept it close early in the first set, but Heidelberg broke open on a 12-3 run across four rotations, taking the score from 9-8 to 21-11. In that stretch, Heidelberg got multiple serves on three of the four rotations. But coming out of that 21-11 service from Olivia Miller, Mohler scored on a kill, setting up
Trinity VanDusen to serve. VanDusen served five consecutive points, with Mohler scoring three kills, bringing the score to 21-17. But it was a bit of an insurmountable lead late, as the Quakers lost the first set 25-19.
In the second set, following Dolven's serves and the score tied at one, the Student Princes got four straight points and set up an 11-1 rally across two rotations and that proved to overwhelm the Quakers as they fell 25-12.
The third set was close early, but after Heidelberg's Reagan Davis entered for her second set, with the score at 15-13, Davis rattled off six straight points on her service rotation, building a 21-13 lead.
Trinity VanDusen had the final service for the Quakers, at 24-16, and tried to rally the Quakers, but a Mikayla Sage kill ended the match with a third set score of 25-18.
