Women's Swimming Competes at Wittenberg in Tri-Meet Saturday

(SPRINGFIELD, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's swimming team competed in a Tri-Meet at Wittenberg University Saturday afternoon that also included Transylvania University. They fell to Wittenberg 139-128 and to Transylvania 190-89. They are now 0-4 overall this season. Unfortunately for the Quakers, they lost their dual to Wittenberg due to the diving portion of the meet, which is a sport that Wilmington doesn't sponsor.

Freshman Gabby Kuetemeyer had a solid day for Wilmington. In her three individual events, she had a first-place finish and a pair of runner-up finishes. She won the 100-yard Butterfly with a time of 1:07.89, which was two seconds better than second place. In the 200-yard Breaststroke, she finished second at 2:40.78, and finished second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:30.06, as Transylvania's Olivia Greinke just edged her at 2:29.61. Gabby also competed in the 200-yard Medley Relay as the third swimmer, where Wilmington finished third at 2:05.59.

Other Quakers who finished as runners-up were sophomore Sydney Overmyer and junior Adrienne Reynek. In Overmyer's lone individual appearance, she finished second in the 100-yard Backstroke with a time of 1:08.43, as Kenz Farner of Transylvania just beat her at 1:07.86. Overmyer was also a part of the Quakers aforementioned third-place 200-yard Medley Relay team, swimming the first lap. Reynek was second in the 1000-yard Freestyle at 13:08.26.
