Box Score

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's soccer team shut out John Carroll University (JCU) 2-0 on the road in the regular season finale on Saturday evening.

The win gives the Fightin' Quakers a berth in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament for the first time since 2015.

Neither side scored in the first half, but Wilmington was the better side holding an 11-3 edge in shots including a 4-0 margin in shots on goal. Despite that, Danielle Delgiudice kept the game scoreless with four saves.

Courtney Ryan broke the deadlock in the 56th minute, scoring the first goal of her career unassisted. Less than 15 minutes later, Abby Spirk took a pass from Tiffany Hayes and doubled the visitors' lead and put the game away, vaulting Wilmington into the postseason.

Lauren Galloway earned the win making four saves while Delgiudice took the loss while making five saves. In total, Wilmington outshot JCU 15-11 and was led by Maddie Scott with five total shots.

"The team picked a good time to play its best game of the year tonight," Head Women's Soccer Coach Steve Spirk said. "We had to win to make it tonight, and we wanted it badly. I am very proud of them."

Wilmington (9-7-1, 4-5-1 OAC), as the No. 6 seed, will travel to No. 3 Otterbein University on Tuesday evening.
