WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's soccer team erupted for four second-half goals in a 5-0 shutout win over Muskingum University in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action on Wednesday evening.

The win was the Fightin' Quakers' sixth straight and improves Wilmington to 8-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in OAC competition.

Wilmington allowed just one shot on goal in the entire game, and it came at the 2:25 mark and was saved by Leda Moyer. Alex Vestal broke the scoreless deadlock as she received a ball down the near side of Williams Stadium in the 28ths minute. She took on dribble inside and fired a low shot to the far post past the outstretched arms of Muskingum's goalkeeper, Katie Bodenmiller.

The Quakers nearly struck for a second goal in the first half, but Bodenmiller denied a penalty kick attempt from Taylor Leake to keep the Fighting Muskies within a goal.

The floodgates opened in the second half, however, as Kaitlin Evans fired a howitzer of a shot from 30-yards out off a pass from Leake that beat Bodenmiller to double the hosts lead. Just over 10 minutes later, Vestal completed a beautiful array of passing as she took a Madison Wiedeman pass and bured her sixth goal of the season at the 63:46 mark.

Wilmington wasn't done, as Wiedeman got in the scoring column in the 72nd minute after a beating the Muskingum defense to finish in breakaway fashion. The Quakers' final goal came on a set piece as Sarah Pierce corner kick found the head of Tiffany Hayes in the 83rd minute.

Wilmington outshot Muskingum 27-4 in the contest including by a 13-1 margin in shots in goal. Vestal finished with six total shots including four on goal while Leake, Addison Tiffany and Mellonee Hall all fired three shots. Maddie Wirtley led the Muskies with two shots.

Leda Moyer earned the victory in goal for Wilmington making one save in the game. Peyton Pakozdi kept the shutout playing the final 15:49 in net.

Bodenmiller make six saves and took the loss for Muskingum. Heather Maxwell and Madee Shipley appeared in relief for the Muskies, giving up one goal each.

With the victory, Wilmington improves to 23-0-1 against Muskingum since becoming an NCAA Division III member prior to the 1991 season.
