Scoreless draw for @DubC_WSoccer

Box Score

The Wilmington College women's soccer team held the advantage in shots, 17-5, but couldn't find the back of the net, and had to settle for a scoreless non-conference draw with Anderson Saturday on Townsend Field in Williams Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After making three saves in the first half, Wilmington goalkeepers faced one shot for the final 65 minutes. Senior Ana Hosler (Blanchester, OH/Blanchester) finished with three saves in 45 minutes of action, while sophomore Leda Moyer (Clarksville, OH/Clinton-Massie) had one save in 65 minutes.
  • Conversely, the Wilmington offense – after not having a single shot on goal in the first half – recorded four in the second half and two in each overtime.
  • Senior Ashley Lovett (Washington Court House, OH/Senior) and junior Taylor Leake (Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek) combined for six of the team's eight shots on goal.

COACHES CORNER

"Today's game was a hard fought battle," said Wilmington head coach Steve Spirk. "I like the way the team is competing every game. The ball just didn't fall our way."

WHAT'S NEXT

Wilmington (2-3-1) has a quick turnaround as the Fightin' Quakers travel to Centre 1 p.m. Sunday.
