Box Score

RICHMOND, IN – The Wilmington College women's soccer ran its winning streak to four games Wednesday, scoring two second-half goals to beat Earlham in non-conference action, 2-0, at Matlack Field.

"When the game started, we weren't ready to go," said Wilmington head coach Steve Spirk. "We just weren't connecting passes or having good traps. We made the adjustments at half, and good things happened."

During the aforementioned streak, the Fightin' Quakers have allowed just one goal. After starting the season without scoring a goal in three consecutive matches, Wilmington has rattled off 10 goals in the next four.

Senior Taylor Franklin (Delaware, OH/Rutherford B. Hayes) saved both shots she faced in posting her third shutout of the season. Defensively, the unit held Earlham to just six shots in the game.

Wilmington took the lead in the 53rd minute when senior Lauren Hamrock (Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek) scored an unassisted goal, hitting the upper 90 to beat the goalkeeper. Senior Camille Gentile (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg) added an insurance goal, scoring on a penalty kick in the 66th minute.

"The second half was more of the type of game we've been preaching," said Spirk. "The young players are starting to figure out what we want, and we are getting good stuff from the bench. 'Play by Committee' is the term I have been using."

The Fightin' Quakers (4-3 overall) hosts Defiance 2 p.m. Saturday at Williams Stadium.
