Madelyn Thomas enters her first year as the Quakers assistant softball coach in 2026-27, with her first season being in 2027.
Thomas makes her way to Wilmington after a two-year stint as a graduate assistant coach at fellow Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) institution Baldwin Wallace University.
While with the Yellow Jackets, she helped them to an OAC regular season championship in 2025 and a third-place conference finish in 2026. Baldwin Wallace also qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2025.

She was integral in all aspects of the Yellow Jackets program, including player development, recruiting, scouting, and more. One of her main focuses was the pitching staff, where she planned bullpen sessions, conducted one on one instruction with players, and created scouting reports for upcoming opponents, among other tasks. Her guidance led the staff from a 3.89 ERA in 2024 to 2.99 in 2025, while also decreasing hits allowed, walks allowed, opponent batting average, and increasing the team’s strikeout numbers.
Thomas also founded and coached at Mad Fastpitch during and after her time as a player. This is a youth softball instruction business that runs individualized and small group pitching programs for players aged 8-18. Along with coaching, she managed everything with the business including scheduling, pricing, operations, and curriculum development. Thomas worked with teams and coaches on player development and practice structure.

She pitched for another fellow OAC school in Muskingum University, where she was named All-OAC twice in the circle and was named the OAC Pitcher of the Year in 2024. She graduated with a dual Bachelor of Arts in Education Early Childhood and Mild-to-Moderate Intervention.
