WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play on Tuesday evening when Muskingum University comes to Hermann Court for a 7 p.m. contest.
The Teams: Wilmington and Muskingum. The Fightin' Quakers are 3-16 overall and dropped their OAC opener to Heidelberg University 3-0 on Saturday. The Fighting Muskies are 17-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference play after a sweep of John Carroll University on Oct. 5. Muskingum most recently defeated nationally-ranked Wittenberg University 3-1.
The Coaches: A new era of Wilmington volleyball has arrived as Andy Riesenberg, an experienced coach at the NCAA Division I, II, III and club levels, enters his first season leading the program in 2019. The Mount St. Joseph University alumnus has spent time at Southern Illinois University, Xavier University and Ohio University as an assistant coach as well as a stint as head coach at NCAA Division II institution Lake Erie College. Hallie Cruzen is in her fourth season as Muskingum's head volleyball coach. The reigning OAC Coach of the Year, Muskingum finished 25-7 and 7-2 in conference competition under her guidance last season.
The Players: Jillian Wesco lead the Wilmington attack with 139 kills for an average of 2.32 per set. Taylor McCuistion, who has nearly 200 digs along with Wesco, has over 115 kills as well. Mariella Szrom leads the squad in attack percentage at a .174 clip. Summer Wilbur averages over six assists per set while libero Karley Schlensker digs up over five balls per set. Brooke Fatheree, who leads the OAC in kills per set at 3.49, is Muskingum's go-to option on offense. She is also second on the team in digs with 258. Erin Dickson quarterbacks the Musky offense to the tune of 8.81 assists per set.
OAC Statistics: Karley Schlensker is second in the OAC in digs per set at 5.30.
