WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's soccer team looks for its second consecutive victory when Muskingum University comes to Williams Stadium for a 7 p.m. contest on Thursday.
The Teams: Wilmington and Muskingum. The Fightin' Quakers opened their 2021 spring season with a 5-0 triumph over Heidelberg University on Sunday. The Fighting Muskies are 0-1-0 after a 2-0 defeat at the hands of John Carroll University.
The Coaches: Alex Van der Sluijs is in his third year leading Wilmington's men's soccer team. The 2007 alumnus, who was a three-time First Team All-OAC selection and a member of the program's only team to win an OAC title in 2004, worked at Defiance College for seven seasons. Adam Ponder is in his second year as Muskingum's head coach.
The Players: Ian Molfenter and Elorm Dogbey both had five points for Wilmington in its season-opening victory against Heidelberg. Both scored two goals and dished out one assist while Yusef Muqtadir netted the other Quakers' goal. Four Muskies – Nicholas Hubbard, Morgan McKenna, Balke Weatherholt and Mahfuz Yakubu – took one shot against John Carroll with the later being a shot on goal.
OAC Fan Policy: The OAC President's Council has updated its spectator policy to allow two individuals per student-athlete to attend home contests.
Series History: Wilmington is 25-3-1 against Muskingum since becoming an NCAA Division III member in the early 1990s. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
