WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's basketball team steps out of conference play for the final time this season on Monday when the Fightin' Quakers head north for a 7 p.m. contest at Trine University (Indiana).
The Teams: Wilmington and Trine. The Quakers are trying to snap a four-game losing skid and end the month of December on a positive note. Wilmington (3-6) most recently fell to No. 20 Marietta 100-71. The Thunder are 3-5 on the season, but have won two of their last three contests. The Thunder most recently lost to No. 10 Wisconsin-Whitewater 64-53.
The Coaches: K.C. Hunt enters his 11th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Brooks Miller, a former Bobby Knight graduate assistant, has been Trine's head coach for six seasons.
The Players: Four Quakers average double figures in scoring including Christian Jones who leads the squad at 18.9 points per game. Nathan Scott, coming off a 17-point performance against Marietta, scores 11.3 points per contest. Jones, Payton Smith and D.J. Iles all dish out over two assists per game while eight individuals grab at least 2.5 rebounds per contest. The Thunder duo of Myles Copeland and Pete Smith average a combined 35.8 points per game.

Newest Member of 1,000-Point Club: Christian Jones recently crossed the 1,000-point career scoring plateau with his 17 points against Mount Union earlier this month. He became the program's 27th individual to score over 1,000 career points.
