(ADA, Ohio) – The Wilmington College wrestling team competes tomorrow and Saturday in the NCAA Division III Region IV Championships, hosted at Ohio Northern University. Both days are slated to start at 10:00 A.M.
The Quakers will be looking for their first national qualifier since the program returned in 2018-19, as it takes a top-three finish in your respective weight class to do so.
Sophomore
Thane McCoy is coming off a First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) honor today at 157 pounds and finished his regular season 28-2. His two losses came to two-time national qualifier and one-time All-American Andrew Supers from Baldwin Wallace University in a match at 165 pounds and his other came via medical forfeit.
McCoy finished eighth at the regional tournament last season, finishing the tournament injured and was forced to forfeit the seventh-place match. He comes into the tournament having not lost a true one on one match since December 5th. McCoy is also ranked 16th nationally by theopenmat.com at 157 pounds and third in Region 4 at 157 by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).
