(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - Sophomore wrestler Thane McCoy earned the third Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Wrestler of the Week honor of his career this afternoon. It marks his second time receiving the award this season, after previously earning the distinction on November 17.
Across two matches this week, McCoy went 2-0 in his matches against Mount Union on Tuesday and Mount St. Joseph on Thursday. McCoy beat the Purple Raiders' Giovanni Duniec by a 9-2 decision at 157 pounds. Versus Rylee Nealeigh on Thursday McCoy won by fall in 3:17 after narrowly winning by tech. fall. The sophomore is currently 28-2 on the year and has had the best individual season for a Quaker since the program's return in 2018-2019.
Wilmington and McCoy will prepare for the NCAA Region IV Championships on Friday, February 27 and Saturday, February 28, at 10:00 A.M.
