(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College wrestling team lost to Heidelberg University Tuesday night in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) dual action, 38-11.
To start off the night, the Quakers lost by fall at 125 before tight matches at 133 and 141. Sophomore
Gavyn Grim lost by 5-0 decision at 133 to Colin Hering. Freshman
Zander Ward surrendered an escape point and riding time point to Maddox Cade, falling by 2-0 decision for a 12-0 Heidelberg lead.
Sophomore
Asher LeBeau took on Drew Miller at 149 pounds. LeBeau and Miller had an active first period, with Asher leading 7-5 with two reversals and a three-point nearfall. Both wrestlers traded a point for an 8-6 LeBeau advantage heading into the final two minutes. Miller took a brief lead late with a penalty point and reversal before Asher reversed Miller and pinned him at 6:35. He is now 10-9 overall this season with six wins by fall.
Thane McCoy dominated his opponent Michael Hatgas at 157 pounds, winning by tech. fall 19-3 for five points and a slight 12-11 advantage for the Student Princes in the team score. McCoy is now 22-1 overall this season with 10 tech. falls. The final five weights saw Heidelberg win by tech. fall, 9-4 decision, forfeit, and two falls to win 38-11.
