(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College wrestling team lost their dual Sunday afternoon to the Siena Heights University Saints, 40-10. They won a pair of matches on the day by tech. fall.
The two Quakers winning matches were freshman
Zander Ward at 141 pounds and redshirt sophomore
Thane McCoy.
Ward beat Maurice Ames by a final score of 21-4 for the first tech. fall of his collegiate career and his eighth win of the season, making him 8-10 overall. He went ahead 8-2 after the first period, using two take downs and a two point near fall, never looking back in the win.
McCoy dominated Drake Munroe from the jump. He used four take downs, a four point near fall, an escape, illegal contact point and riding time for a 19-3 win in the first period. He improves to 19-1 overall this season and now has seven wins via tech. fall.
