McCoy Pins, Pratt Prevails In Dual Loss to Mount Union

(ALLIANCE, Ohio) - Thane McCoy scored an opening period pin and Quintez Pratt prevailed in an 11-8 decision for the Quakers in a 38-15 team loss to the University of Mount Union in Alliance tonight.

James Rankin took Hunter Newell to extra time, but was taken down first for the 8-5 decision.

McCoy scored a quick fall of Spencer McCarty, ending that match in less than a minute, giving the Quakers six team points at 165 pounds.

Then at 174, Pratt had two takedowns of Nathaniel Johnson, in each of the first two periods, but trailed 6-3 at the end of the first, following a reversal and four point nearfall. In that second period, Pratt did his work, reversing advantage for a quick two points, bringing it to 6-5 and a three point nearfall to make it 8-6.

Pratt ended the second period in a commanding 11-7 lead, and saw the third mostly play out with nothing much happening; a caution on Pratt, giving Johnson one point for Pratt's second caution and a stalling warning on each wrestler to finish 11-8.

Cairo Vanterpool scored six team points via forfeit at the 184 pound weight class.
