(HIRAM, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's swimming team won their first dual of the 2024-25 season Saturday afternoon at Hiram College, 134-82. This pushes the Quakers record to 1-4 overall.
The Quakers were the only team swimming in the 400 SC Meter Medley Relay, with the team of
Sydney Overmyer,
Gabby Kuetemeyer,
Alayna Fierman, and
Adisson Houdeshell winning in 5:22.48.
Alaina Reynek took second in the 1500 SC Meter Freestyle with a time of 22:24.87. Houdeshell out touched Madison Fleischer of Hiram in the 200 SC Meter Freestyle, finishing in 2:31.61 to Fleischer's 2:31.80. Overmyer was second in the 100 SC Meter Backstroke, touching the wall in 1:19.99.
Fierman just beat her teammate
Sophia Mignery in the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke. Fierman's winning time was 1:26.59, while Mignery touched in 1:26.63. Kuetemeyer won the 200 SC Meter Butterfly in a time of 2:51.31. Houdeshell continued her solid day with a second-place finish in the 100 SC Meter Freestyle at 1:11.28.
Adrienne Reynek touched the wall in 2:57.69 for a second-place finish in the 200 SC Meter Backstroke. The Quakers won the final three individual events of the day. Overmyer won the 400 SC Meter Freestyle in 5:31.74 by almost 12 seconds, Fierman took the 100 SC Meter Butterfly at 1:20.91, and Kuetemeyer was the winner of the 400 SC Meter IM at 5:59.61.
The women concluded their day with a dominant victory in the 400 SC Meter Freestyle Relay as Houdeshell, Mignery, Overmyer, and Kuetemeyer won in a time of 4:42.26 by over 12 seconds.
