Winning streak snapped by Pioneers

Box Score

LEXINGTON, KY – The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team had its four-game winning streak snapped Saturday as the Fightin' Quakers fell to Transylvania, 20-6, in non-conference action.

"We just really broke down on defense," said head coach Domenic Marzano. "We keep letting a couple of minutes of breakdown be the game for us."

Transylvania was in control for most of the opening half, scoring seven of eight goals. Sophomore Alexander Gossard (Galloway, OH/Hilliard Bradley) scored a power play goal with sophomore Evan Osborne (Middletown, OH/Lebanon) earning the assist.

Shortly after pulling to within 12-6 on four straight games, Wilmington had the Pioneers score the game's final eight goals. Part of the problem for the Fightin' Quakers in the final period was the inability to win the faceoff. WC was just 3-for-11 in the fourth quarter, and was just 9-for-27 in the game.

Sophomore Jalen Jackson (Hilliard, OH/Bradley) distributed five of Wilmington's six assists as Gossard scored half of the Fightin' Quakers' goals.

Freshmen Reid Delaney (Wooster, OH/Wooster) and Nick Perry (Carmel, IN/Carmel) scored a goal each, while Osborne finished with a goal and an assist.

Freshman Paul Koerbel (Maineville, OH/Kings) finished the game with 17 saves.

Wilmington (4-5) travels to Trine 7 p.m. Wednesday for its final non-conference game of the season.
