Macki Leon closed out an incredible career with yet another All-OAC honor and a school record in the 200-yard backstroke. The senior from Ashland, Ohio, swum a time of 2:08.84 in the event while teammates Ashley Carlson (2:22.25) and Kadie Grundy (2:27.00) took seventh and eighth in the consolation finals.

Macki Leon broke her own school record and earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) honors in the 200-yard IM to highlight the Wilmington College women’s swimming team’s performance on the first day of the 2021 OAC Swimming & Diving Championships held at the Spire Institute on Thursday.
Leon took part in four events for the Fightin’ Quakers, winning all of them. The Ashland, Ohio, native tallied convincing victories in the 50-meter backstroke (32.82 seconds), the 100-meter backstroke (1:09.36) and the 100-meter IM (1:11.81). She also played a part in the Fightin’ Quakers’ winning 200-meter freestyle relay squad that touched the wall in 1:58.29.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), the league Wilmington College has participated in collegiate athletics since the turn of the century, announced on Friday its plans to postpone all intercollegiate athletic competition through the calendar year due to safety concerns amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The conference is committed to collaboration in 2021 to allow the affected sports to compete safely in 2021.
