The Wilmington College women's soccer team competed in their last match of the 2017 regular season Saturday afternoon. Throughout the course of the 90-minute match, the Fightin' Quakers were able to tally a total of 18 shots--to Heidelberg's seven--12 of which were on goal. Only six of the 18 shots were taken during the first half, the remaining 12 in the second-half. Despite this second half surge in shots taken, the Fightin' Quakers were unable to best Heidelberg and lost 1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- All but three Fightin' Quaker field players were able to make their way to the goal and take a shot this afternoon. Sophomore Alex Vestal (Orlando, FL/Lake Nona) led the charge, taking a total of three shots, one of which was in frame.
- Junior Kaitlin Evans (Leesburg, OH/Leesburg-Fairfield) and senior Mellonee Hall (Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek) both found room for two shots, both of which were on goal. Freshman Abby Spirk (Clayton, OH/Northmont) and junior Taylor Leake (Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek) were also able to muster two shots; however, only one of each of theirs found its way on frame. Freshman Sidney Avey (Clarksville, OH/Clinton-Massie) tallied two goals, as well, though neither were on frame.
- Seniors Ashley Lovett (Washington Court House, OH/Washington Senior) and Haley Brausch (Clarskville, OH/Clinton-Massie), juniors Hannah Greaney (Dayton, OH/Carroll), and sophomores Haley Burge (Clarks Hill, IN/McCutcheon) and Taylor Thompson (Canal Winchester, OH/Canal Winchester) each tallied one shot on goal.
