WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's basketball team returns home on Saturday to face Baldwin Wallace University for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) game at Hermann Court. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
The Teams: Wilmington and Baldwin Wallace (BW). The Fightin' Quakers are 8-6 overall and 4-3 in conference competition after an 88-78 win at Otterbein University on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets are 13-1 overall and atop the OAC standings at 7-0 after a 59-42 triumph at home against Ohio Northern University.
The Coaches: Jerry Scheve is in his 30th season as head coach of the Wilmington women's basketball program. Scheve, who guided the Quakers to the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2004, has amassed over 500 career victories. Cheri Harrer is also in her 30th season at Baldwin Wallace's head coach. The Yellow Jackets have won nearly 600 games during her tenure and appeared in 14 NCAA Division III Tournaments.
The Players: McKayla Binkley is Wilmington's leading scorer (17.6 points per game) and rebounder (7.3 rebounds per game) while also dishing out 1.6 assists and stealing over two passes per game. Sister Hannah Binkley and Kennedy Lewis both score over 11.5 points per game while Kelly Noll is second on the squad in rebounding at 6.9 boards per 40 minutes. A pair of seniors – Riley Schill and Hannah Fecht – lead BW in scoring as both average over double digits. Lily Edwards, the reigning OAC Freshman of the Year, scores 9.6 points per game and is the squad's leading rebounder at 4.9 boards per 40 minutes.
