WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's basketball looks for its third consecution Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) victory on Wednesday when the Quakers take on Capital University for a 7 p.m. contest in the Capital Center.
The Teams: Wilmington and Capital. The Quakers are 7-4 on the season and 3-1 in conference play after dispatching Marietta College 75-65 on the road on Saturday. The Crusaders are also 7-4 overall, but an even 2-2 in OAC games after a 61-56 loss at Baldwin Wallace University on Saturday.
The Coaches: Jerry Scheve is in his 30th season as head coach of the Wilmington women's basketball program. Scheve, who guided the Quakers to the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2004, has amassed over 500 career victories. Dixie Jeffers, also Capital's Senior Woman Administrator, is in her 34th season leading the Crusaders. Capital, which claimed consecutive national championships in 1994 and 1995, has won over 700 games since Jeffers took the helm prior to the 1986-87 campaign.
The Players: A trio of Quakers – McKayla Binkley, Hannah Binkley and Kennedy Lewis – all score in double figures including McKayla Binkley's 16.8 points per game on over 52 percent shooting from the field. She's also the team's leading rebounder at 7.3 boards per contest. Kennedy Lewis, who scores 11.0 points per game, combines with Zahrya Bailey to dish out 6.3 assists per game. Additionally, both Michelle Lee and Kelly Noll score over nine points per game. Emma Burns and Regan Stonerock both score in double figures for Capital while Stonerock leads the Crusaders in rebounding at 7.1 boards per game.
