BEXLEY, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's soccer was held without a shot for the first 54 minutes of the game in a 3-1 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) defeat at the hands of Capital University on Thursday evening.

The Crusaders (3-5-0) fired eight shots in the first half, and the second found its target as Jack Kossoudji fed a pass to Jack Francisco in the 21st minute. Francisco beat Felix Maurer with a low shot for the game's first goal, and the only goal of the first half.

Wilmington (6-2-0) took its first shot in the 55th minute, but Ian Molfenter's strike was saved by Capital goalkeeper Kellen Sargent. The Quakers kept the pressure on, earning a corner kick less than half of a minute later. On the corner kick, Yusef Muqtadir found Casey Miller, who headed home the game-tying goal.

Unfortunately for the Quakers, the Crusaders, who were looking to snap a four-game losing skid in which they lost all four by a score of 1-0, netted goals from Matt Scheper and Bailey Lach to seal the win.

Capital held a 15-6 edge in shots including by a 6-3 margin in shots on goal. Sargent earned the win making two saves while Maurer took the loss making three saves.

Wilmington will close out its 2021 spring regular season with a 2 p.m. contest against league-leading John Carroll University at Williams Stadium on Sunday.
