Baseball Hosts Ivy Tech Fort Wayne in Home Opener on Wednesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team hosts Ivy Tech Fort Wayne in its home-opener at Tewksbury-Delaney Field on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Ivy Tech Fort Wayne. The Fightin' Quakers are 1-9 on the season after falling in doubleheaders at Denison University and at Ferrum College last weekend. The Titans are 5-3 on the year having won their last four contests.

The Coaches: The 2019 season marks the new era for Wilmington College baseball team as the head coach Tony Vittorio starts his first season in charge of the program. He most recently served as the head coach at the University of Dayton for 18 seasons. Lance Hershberger is Ivy Tech Fort Wayne's head coach.

The Hitters: Jake Hyatt and Gage Bley lead Wilmington with seven RBIs each while Nick Silvis and Kasey Bottorff join Bley to tally double digits in hits thus far this year. Gavin Perkins has a team-high .398 batting average while Silvis checks in at a .342 clip. Antonio Miller leads the Quakers in stolen bases with five on the season. The Pitchers: Matt Oney and Adam Doerger have both been effective relief pitchers for Wilmington as both have ERAs under 3.50. Lance Fleischman and Jarett Trautman have tallied double digits in both innings pitched and strikeouts with Fleischman having the Quakers' win this season.
