The Wilmington College athletic department has announced departmental changes effective for the 2017-18 school year.
Wilmington baseball coach Dan Cleaver moves from part-time to full-time, and the program will also land one of the new five interns. He just completed his third season as the program's head coach and his fifth on the coaching staff.
"Dan has showed his commitment to Wilmington College, the athletic department and the baseball program during his time here, and we felt it was time to reciprocate his commitment by moving him to full-time," said Wilmington College Vice President for Athletic Administration/Director of Athletics Terry Rupert.
Cleaver has overseen a program that has improved on and off the field. Not only has the team improved its win total in every season, but also the team GPA. The baseball team has achieved the highest male GPA on campus in each of the last two seasons.
In addition to baseball, the track and field program will add an intern to its coaching staff. The three other interns will be split by two programs; men's soccer and men's lacrosse, women's soccer and women's lacrosse, and cross country and swimming.
